Vasculitis is an inflammation of the blood vessels that causes changes in the blood vessel walls. It can cause vessel walls to thicken and narrow, cutting off vital blood supply to tissues and organs. Symptoms of vasculitis include fatigue, weight loss, fever, skin rashes or ulcers, shortness of breath, and muscle and joint pain. Sometimes vasculitis will resolve on its own, but sometimes steroids, immunosuppressive meds, or blood transfusions are needed. Vasculitis is represented by the red awareness ribbon and awareness products are available in the Unchargeables Shop.
